Ngā mihi nui kia koutou katoa

Welcome to 2014. We hope that you have had a relaxing break and are ready to begin a new year of learning.

We began the year with just over 100 students, with a number from 2013 having returned to their regular school this year. We wish them well.

Our teachers began the year with three days of professional development. The whakatauki for our time together was "U ki ako, tu tangata ai apopo" ("Excel in teaching so our learners will excel in the future"). This will continue to be our focus throughout the year.

One of our goals is to providing learning for all eligible, unwell students in the South Island. To help meet this goal we will have a teacher based in Rangiora for students in North Canterbury and our teachers in Invercargill will be moving to a larger space that will allow for more students to come to classroom sessions.

We look forward to helping you reach your learning goals in 2014 and providing support for your return to your regular school as your health improves.
